Our Curriculum
NURSERY SECTION
CHEERFUL CLASS (Kg 1), DELIGHTFUL CLASS (Kg 2), JOYFUL CLASS (Nursery 1) and JOLLY CLASS (Nursery 2)
Our curriculum is broad, flexible and geared towards taking care of every child’s physical, intellectual, spiritual and social well-being. Our programs are based on an adaptation of the Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum blended with the Nigerian curriculum and Montessori Method of education for the Nursery Section.
PRIMARY SECTION
YEAR 1 TO YEAR 6
We run the British National Curriculum blended with the Nigerian Basic Education Curriculum by NERDC. Activities are planned taking into consideration every child’s interest and covering all aspects of the curriculum for all age groups. Our pupils are taught using 21st century methods to ensure they are kept abreast with modern technologies. Age appropriate play equipment and materials are available enabling the children to enjoy themselves even while learning.
CO- CURRICULAR ACTIVITIES
Each child is given the opportunity to expand and enhance their overall educational experience and to choose a minimum of two activities. HD School believes that physical fitness is an integral part of healthy living and also recognizes that through engagement in sporting activities, important lessons about effort, teamwork, competition, leadership and fairness can be learned. For physical development, our children are encouraged to choose from the different sporting activities and outdoor games. As students interest change from year to year, we anticipate the set of activities for them in our school. Presently, we have Chess, Swimming, Ballet, Taekwondo, Table-tennis, Orchestra, STEAM, Red Cross and Basketball game.
